The PAC-UK Friends Group recently enjoyed an evening of music and laughter with local and internationally renowned musician Simeon Wood at an event intended to raise donations and awareness for PAC-UK’s services.

Having recently joined the Friends Group, Simeon kindly agreed to take part in an evening of entertainment, performing arrangements on a variety of wind instruments - including an amusing tune on the walking stick! He also composed an original piece to accompany a fantastic performance by young dancers from the Starlight Academy. This piece will be included and available to purchase on Simeon’s next CD. Choreographed by Emma Barker, the music and dance proved an excellent partnership.

The event, which was attended by nearly 60 people, was a fantastic achievement for the Friends. Rosalind Watt said it was a great opportunity to raise awareness of PAC-UK services and to meet people who had their own experiences with adoption.

Simeon Wood 2016!

Joy Elson said: “We had a wonderful time with our extended PAC-UK family and what a privilege it was to see Simeon and the Starlight Academy perform. Special thanks must go to them for their performances, with amazing choreography from Emma Barker. Starlight - “where every child has a chance to shine” - is an excellent Friend and partner for PAC-UK and it was a great pleasure to see them perform.

“We must also thank Yorkshire Dance for providing us with a venue to host the evening, and the continued support of Burton Safes who have been sponsors of the Friends Group since it began.

Rosalind added:

Paddington made it to the party!

“We would also like to thank those who donated to the raffle, with prizes including a wonderful Paddington cake made by Linda Musgrave, a Huddersfield’s Sugar Craft champion. This went to an adopted child for his birthday; we hope he enjoys it! A list of raffle prize winners is available to anyone who wishes to see it.

“A final thank you goes to everyone who came and supported the event and to those who dedicated their time and enthusiasm to make the evening a success. We hope that our contribution will help towards the renovation of the Child and Family room in the Leeds head office.”
