Price: £114.00

Date: December 12, 2019

When a sibling is added to a family the dynamics and identity of that family changes. Adding an adopted child, who brings its own history and needs to an existing family presents some interesting and challenging questions for adopters. In addition sibling dynamics need to be considered.

Welcoming a brother or sister through adoption, is both an exciting and daunting experience for all family members. The advantages of the sibling bond and relationship are well researched and seen as having lifelong advantages. However many children coming into care will have lasting consequences from their early experiences which bring complexities to their understanding of family and the parenting task.

The BUSS model - Building Underdeveloped Sensory Systems - Leeds

Price: £218.40

Date: January 29, 2020

Babies and young children raised in loving, nurturing environments grow into themselves on a bodily level through the touch and movement that happens in the context of early relationships. This enables children to feel confident in their movements and their body, as well as in the messages their body gives them about their physiological state. Significantly, this then provides a solid foundation for the development of social-emotional skills and cognitive learning.

Sensory Attachment Intervention for neglected and abused children - London

Price: £218.40

Date: March 23, 2020

Children who have been abused and neglected have often missed out on all sorts of movement experiences. For example, small children may have spent long hours strapped in a buggy or left without food and stimulation. While this might seem unimportant relative to other things they have experienced, it can leave children without a foundation to develop social and emotional skills. Children who have experienced abuse and neglect are often more ‘dysregulated’ than their peers.

This workshop, presented by Specialised Occupational Therapist Karen Hazard will provide an understanding of how to help children address some of their neurodevelopmental gaps. Karen Hazard will explain how the senses can impact on behaviour and give practical strategies that can that be used at home and school to help children tune into how they feel physically which in turn supports emotional health.
