We warmly invite adopted people (aged 18 and over) to join us for a FREE, in-person event at our fully accessible PAC-UK Leeds office.

Hosted by Tanya Killick and Gilli Bruce, the day will include a mix of workshops and small discussion groups on topics including; the impacts of adoption, adoption and the body, and reunion - refreshments and a shared lunch will also be provided.

This is a safe, supportive space where you can choose to listen, share, or simply connect with others who have lived experience of adoption. There is absolutely no pressure to speak or share. You are welcome to participate as much (or as little) as feels right for you.

About the event

We warmly welcome you to our in-person adopted person meet-up day. A chance for adopted people to meet, discuss, have lunch, share experiences and enjoy being with others who really do understand.

We appreciate the day may be overwhelming for many, and for some people, this could be the first time they have ever met another adopted person. We will create safe break-out spaces that can used to meet others, chill, or take a breather!

Who should attend

This event is strictly open to adopted people aged 18 and over only. Please note, this event will be capped at 25 attendees due to the size of the venue, so please let us know if your plans change and you are unable to attend so we can free up your place.

11:00 – 11:50 | The Impacts of Adoption
An overview of current research on the lifelong impacts of adoption, followed by small group discussions. Together, we'll validate, acknowledge, and normalise our shared experiences.

11:50 – 12:00 | Comfort Break

12:00 – 13:00 | Adoption and the Body
Explore how adoption-related trauma can affect the body and nervous system. This session includes an introduction to breathwork and body-based techniques to support regulation and comfort in the body. Led by Tanya Killick (Trainee Yoga Therapist)

13:00 – 13:45 | Lunch Break 

13:45 – 15:00 | Reunion
A look at the drive for reunion, the emotional and practical complexities involved, and how we might feel throughout the process. Includes input and small group discussions.
