Introduction to The BUSS model - Building Underdeveloped Sensory Systems - delivered via Zoom

Description:

Babies and young children raised in loving, nurturing environments grow into themselves on a bodily level through the touch and movement that happens in the context of early relationships. This enables children to feel confident in their movements and their body, as well as in the messages their body gives them about their physiological state. Significantly, this then provides a solid foundation for the development of social-emotional skills and cognitive learning.

Many children who have experienced developmental trauma will have missed out on the above. The BUSS model is designed to support these children: the model helps to fill in the gaps in a child's bodily foundation which includes catching up on sensorimotor stages, sensory processing and bodily regulation.

After introducing BUSS, enough time will be given for discussion, for hearing from families and practitioners who are already using the model, and for trying out some of the games and activities that are part of BUSS. We will use breakout rooms in Zoom to ensure that there are opportunities for all to think and do together!

Please note: this is a 2 day training course taking place on
Tuesday 23 and Tuesday 30 November 2021 from 9.30am to 12.00pm
