Access to birth records, birth record counselling, and access to information - via Zoom

Description:

This participative workshop covers the statutory obligations of the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and the differences between birth records counselling, access to birth records and access to information.  It also provides an opportunity to explore the emotional impact of the work both on the adopted adult and on the support worker, as well as practise the skills involved.

Please note: this is a 2 day training course taking place on
Thursday 25 February and Tuesday 2 March 2021 from 9.30am to 12.30pm

Who should attend

Social workers, social work assistants who may be undertaking this work under the supervision of an experienced social worker with at least three years’ experience of adoption work, and other professionals working with adults affected by adoption

Trainers

Jean Milsted is a social worker with many years’ experience of working with adults affected by adoption in local authorities, with Norcap and more recently as Registered Manager of Adoption Services for Adults.  Jean is currently an Associate Intermediary and Intermediary Supervisor with PAC-UK.

Jan Shine is an intermediary and freelance trainer with many years’ experience of working with adults affected by adoption with Norcap and with Adoption Services for Adults.  Jan is currently an Associate Intermediary and Intermediary Supervisor with PAC-UK and facilitates an adoption support group
