By Your Side: Supporting transitions - One day overview - London

Description:

This is a one-day overview of the By Your Side model for supporting transitions. It is open to anyone interested in the approach. It is particularly suitable for staff teams, including managers, who wish to have a broad understanding of the approach.

Note: Professionals who wish to facilitate the therapeutic work should attend the two-day practitioner course.

The training will provide an overview covering the following areas:

  1. Framework and theory underpinning the By Your Side transitions model
  2. Unpacking the principles of the model
  3. Presentation of pattern of sessions – in foster care, across introduction, after the move
  4. Examples of helpful ways to talk and play with children across transitions
  5. Use of rituals to provide continuity across context and help develop the narrative
  6. Managing adult dynamics

Who should attend

Social workers and other professionals working in adoption and permanency.
Staff teams and managers who wish to have a broad understanding of the approach.

Trainer

Dr Emily Barnbrook is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Certified Theraplay® Therapist and Trainer and in the process of completing the Theraplay® Supervisor’s Practicum. Emily is also accredited in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy® and is engaged in the DDP consultant’s practicum.

Emily works for ‘The Family Place’, an independent therapeutic organisation specialising in attachment and trauma informed interventions for children looked after or adopted and their parents/carers, as well as their professional networks.

The completion of this booking form for a training place is an agreement with PAC-UK and the following cancellation terms apply: Cancellation more than 6 weeks prior to date of training – 25% charge of course fee; Cancellation between 6 weeks and 4 weeks prior to date of training – 50% charge of course fee; Cancellation within 4 weeks of date of training – 100% charge of course fee; Moved to another date – 20% of course fee (admin fee). PAC-UK reserve the right to cancel the training and a full refund of the course fee will be given.
