And one more makes a whole lot more! Welcoming a brother or sister through adoption - London

Description:

When a sibling is added to a family the dynamics and identity of that family changes. Adding an adopted child, who brings its own history and needs to an existing family presents some interesting and challenging questions for adopters. In addition sibling dynamics need to be considered.

Welcoming a brother or sister through adoption, is both an exciting and daunting experience for all family members. The advantages of the sibling bond and relationship are well researched and seen as having lifelong advantages. However many children coming into care will have lasting consequences from their early experiences which bring complexities to their understanding of family and the parenting task.

This training looks to prepare parents and carers in the distinctive undertaking of adopting another brother or sister to their family. The day promises to be a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to network and learn from each other.
