Join PAC-UK's Friends Group
Would you be interested in promoting the charity through fundraising and social events? The recently formed PAC-UK Friends Group is hoping to encourage more people to join them in supporting the valuable work of the organisation.
Whatever time you can give will be appreciated. If you wish to hear about a social event just let them know. Some people may be happy to be more involved in fundraising events.
If you or someone you know has a particular interest in the subject of adoption or permanence and would like to help, as well as enjoy some new activities, please join us by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Introducing some of our Friends and supporters
Joy Elson - Joy was part of the original steering group for After Adoption Yorkshire in the 1980s. She was a social worker in adoption and fostering. As well as having a birth child she and her husband chose to extend their family through adoption.
Joy feels that although there is now a greater recognition of the need for support for families coping with the results of loss and emotional trauma there is still a long way to go. This is her motivation for promoting PAC-UK and to raise funds to continue its good work.
Rosalind Watt - Rosalind’s working life included primary school teaching, involvement in various aspects of the hospitality industry and, following a move to Huddersfield, posts in the Polytechnic culminating in taking early retirement from the University as Assistant Registrar for Research.
As a ‘retired’ person Rosalind is still busy as Administrator for the Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival, walking dogs for a charity as well as singing in Holmfirth Choral Society.
Alison - Alison was keen to join the Friends of PAC-UK. She is retired after a career in local broadcasting. She also brings her experience as a mother and her concern for children who have suffered trauma and neglect.
Simeon Wood - Originally from Huddersfield, Simeon is an internationally renowned musician who plays over 20 instruments. He has recently joined our Friends group and generously agreed to host and perform our first fundraising concert in September 2016 (see below).
Burton Safes - Burton Safes were one of our first corporate supporters and sponsored the launch of the Leeds Services at an event in October 2015 at Leeds Civic Hall by providing refreshments. They have also provided one of the leading prizes for our autumn raffle.
Starlight Academy - Starlight Academy is a dance and performance school based at The Dance Mill, a purpose built dance and fitness centre in Guiseley, Leeds. They offer a full range of classes, helping to build confidence, strong dance technique and training for the stage, and have classes for all age groups, from pre school to adult. They are to perform at the Simeon Wood evening, dancing two contemporary pieces choreographed by Miss Emma Barker; one to a Simeon Wood composition never heard before, and one to add extra glitz and glamour with a feathers number.
