PAC-UK delivered a series of free to attend online events during National Adoption Week 2021, which took place from Monday 18th to Sunday 24th October.

This year, National Adoption Week was dedicated to all those impacted by adoption whose stories are often less heard - we hope that PAC-UK has played a part in amplifying these voices.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our events; co-hosts, presenters, attendees and those who worked hard behind the scenes. We end by saying a huge, huge thank you to our incredible PAC-UK Birth Parent Support Group and Adopteens for sharing their personal stories in our two brand new, specially commissioned short films 'The forgotten voices of birth families' and 'Adopted for life' - see below and also available to watch on our PAC-UK YouTube channel.

You can 'follow' PAC-UK on Twitter here and 'like' PAC-UK on Facebook here. Sharing and commenting on our posts is appreciated. We used #PACUKNAW2021 for our 'Voices of' events and #AdopteensTakeover for our Twitter takeover.

Our 'Voices of adopted people: Messages for change' event took place on Monday 18 October and was a huge success, with 200 people attending. During the event we premiered our brand new 'Adopted for life' short film, that you can watch below and on our PAC-UK YouTube channel. This event was recorded and will be uploaded to our PAC-UK YouTube channel in due course.

Our 'Adoption remembrance' event took place on Tuesday 19 October - the maximum number of attendees was capped to 50 people, and the event was fully booked. This event was not recorded. On the same day, we launched our new free to access dedicated Private Intermediary Service Advice Line to support adopted adults and birth relatives who wish to reconnect with their relatives.

Our 'Voices of birth parents: Loss, hope and change' event took place on Wednesday 20 October and was also a huge success, with 250 people attending. During the event we premiered our brand new 'The forgotten voices of birth families' short film, that you can watch below and on our PAC-UK YouTube channel. This event was recorded and will be uploaded to our PAC-UK YouTube channel in due course.

On Thursday 21 October we published PAC-UK hosts Erasmus+ BRIGHTER FUTURE Project partners in Leeds - PAC-UK is the UK representative in an international project called ‘BRIGHTER FUTURE’ which is funded through Erasmus+. This 30-month project aims to directly improve the educational experience of children in care and adopted children, through innovative training for some of the most important people in their lives – their teachers.

Our amazing Adopteens took over PAC-UK Twitter on Friday 22 October and shared their views on a series of topics important to them, which included: bullying, peer support and more awareness around adoption in schools. You can view all posts under #AdopteensTakeover
