Helping children (age 4 - 12) with their story - London

Description:

It can be difficult to know how to talk to your child about their story. This workshop will give parents and carers confidence in approaching this issue and give practical tips on where to start and how to build safety and self-esteem in your child. You will gain new skills to help talk to your child and have a good understanding of the theory and emotions around them making sense of their story. The workshop is led by Sue Dromey who has worked in the field of fostering and adoption for over 35 years as an integrative child psychotherapist, drama therapist, trainer and social worker.

  • A day to explore theory, skills and the emotions involved in talking to children about their stories
  • To acknowledge the positives and address the concerns
  • Explore where to start – in the here and now – building safety and self-esteem
  • Identify words and ways of talking to your child
  • Examine some tools and ways of working with children
  • To have the opportunity to practise some of the new skills discussed over the course of the day
