Understanding the impact of trauma - London

Description:

Trauma can affect a child’s body, brain, behaviour, emotions and relationships. Dr Karen Treisman, clinical psychologist and author, offers a lively, interactive day to help you understand the child who has experienced loss and trauma. Karen will provide the latest evidential neuroscience findings in an engaging and accessible way. She will provide ideas, techniques and tools to help gain an insight into therapeutic re-parenting and show you how to identify a child’s emotional hotspots. This day offers something for everyone who lives or works with a child who has experienced trauma.

This training day offers an abundance of learnings around the impact of relational and developmental trauma, neglect, and disrupted attachment on children and on their surrounding adults. Including on the impact of trauma on children’s bodies, brains, emotions, behaviors, learning, and relationships. This day uses a range of metaphors, props, video clips, experiential learning, and case studies to bring the contents alive. This day also draws on the latest evidence-base and neuroscience findings but delivers them in an accessible engaging and applicable way. There is something for everyone working with and living with children who have experienced trauma, loss, and disrupted attachment.

Dr Karen Treisman, Clinical Psychologist, Trainer, and author of “Working with Relational and Developmental Trauma in Children and Adolescents”.Karen specialises and has extensive experience and expertise in areas of parenting, attachment, trauma, adoption, fostering, and child protection.

Karen works within the NHS and social services, and also is the founder of Safe Hands and Thinking Minds training and consultancy service.
