B3K68P Father holding daughter at beachMost children who are adopted or fostered have some level of contact with their birth family, whether face to face or by letter – yet the psychological impact of this contact isn’t always considered.  This training for professionals, with Louis Sydney, psychotherapist, author and specialist adoption consultant, will explore what makes ‘good’ contact.  Louis will provide a framework and model for assessing, evaluating and planning contact arrangements.

This is a 1 day training that explores the many types of contact issues faced by families and provides a framework and model for Assessing, evaluating and planning contact arrangements.

The day will also include ‘Facilitated Contact’, that provides the opportunity for a more meaningful, purposeful and therapeutic form of contact experience.

Trainer

Louis Sydney is a child and adult psychotherapist and specialist adoption consultant at ASART as well as an independent trainer, clinical supervisor and consultant. He has worked with adopted or fostered children and families for over ten years and was a family therapist, trainer and offered consultation at Family Futures for over nine years. He has also trained in Theraplay®, Dan Hughes’ Dyadic Developmental Therapy and Somatic Experiencing® (a body and trauma focussed approach to therapy).
